Biography
Gil Bar-Sela is a New-York City based actor and has been recognized by the press and critics in both the U.S and Israel for his remarkable stage presence and distinctive dramatic and comedic talent. A native of Israel, Gil began his career at the age of sixteen, when he starred in the longest running musical in Israel’s history King David. Having established national reputation on stage, he continued playing leading roles in theater and television, among them, the nation’s highest rating drama Cheers To Love, the prime time special Carmen, the original hit musical King Arthur and the winner of Best Ensemble Award at the Israel National Theater Festival, Oedipus.
In the U.S, Gil pursued advanced training at the renowned Circle in the Square Theater School, where he achieved distinction as an outstanding performer. He performed in the show A Company of Angels for Showtime producer and director John Moser and has garnered critical acclaim for his performance in the comedy Chicken Delight produced by the Tony award winning Theater Company The Glines. Gil starred in the national tours of One Night and Four Hearts (Equalogy Inc.) and performed in numerous New-York stage production; He played leading roles in Poppies (New-York International Fringe Festival), The Seagull (Schapiro Theater), Love; a Tragic Etude (Caracas- New York collective), Lilith (Core Theater Co.) and Bury the Dead (Abingdon Theater).
Gil has recently completed shooting the feature film Restless, for the critically acclaimed director Amos Kolek. Other film credits include Places for director Isaac Yeshurun, the American-Israeli co-production Make-Up, Failing Better Now for director Keren Atzmon and Between Something and Nothing for director Todd Verow (release: Summer 2008).
Gil is fluent in English (standard American dialect) and Hebrew and is extremely skillful with most European and American dialects.
